2009 Projects ~ Princess Lap Quilt

I try to live by the addage that "there is always time for what's important."

I haven't had many finished projects in the last couple months due to quilt shows, but I quilted this yard of Disney Princess fabric for our local Children's Center.

It felt good to free motion again & I just love this varigated thread. I am working through my second cone this year. It just seems to work with almost every project I pick up.

It has been nice to dive back into the fabric pile!

I use Warm & Natural cotton blend batting. Doesn't it give an awesome soft & antique look to the quilt once it's washed?

New Shelving for more great fabrics!

I am so stoked about my new shelves. MAINLY because I built them myself and because I used only 1 new board ($3.75), the rest of my supplies were on hand, reclaimed, repurposed UPcycled!

Check out all the new fleece & flannel too *wink*

2009 Projects~ Bluetick Bee BOM Top done

I have finished my demo quilt top for our Bee BOM (block of the month). We went with a pretty easy 9 patch pattern, but the quilt is pretty stunning once together.

I used 3 fabrics from moda's Odelia line in this one. I have been eyeing this fabric for over a year & just working up the gumption to take it for a spin. :)

Quilt Show of the Little Mountains, Monticello KY

The beautiful rolling hills of Tennessee & Kentucky were a great way to start each day on my way to the Quilt Show of the Little Mountains in Monticello last weekend.

I had a great time at the show. Met lots of warm & wonderful people and had the privilege of seeing some great creations. They even had FOUR whole cloth handquilted quilts entered for judging that I was able to ooh & ahhh over!

Here are some of the quilts (click the pics to see enlarged pic in new window) :

This quilt was voted "Viewer's Choice" which is the Best in Show award

(For us selvage lovers!)

These Cross Stitch quilts are like what my Grandma used to make .
