2009 Projects ~ #80 Lap Quilt & Table Trivet

If it were me, I would call this one Go Bright, or Go Home (with me).

I gravitate towards warmer tones, so this is a big leap for me. I was happy to push my limits on this day-brightener for my brother.


The body of the quilt is quilted in the ditch, in the pattern. I wanted the quilt to drape and be real wrapable (for those cold South Florida nights).

The border is more tightly quilted in free motion shells. Thanks to the 365 days of free motion quilting for this pattern!

The Moda batik on the back is a very densly woven fabric and very hard to hand sew, so after binding the table trivet by hand, I opted to use the stipple stitch on my sewing machine to do the binding on the quilt.

If you noticed the floor, yes, they are really dress patterns & newspapers. The papers date from 1908, 1922, and 1932. I put them down one at a time with wallpaper paste & when dry used polyuerethene to seal it. That project was NOT done this week, but last year....I'm not that DIY crazy to not sleep!

2009 Projects ~ Something for me! A tablerunner PLUS

Twice a month I host a Sit N Sew in our brick & mortar store. Earlier this month, I pulled a pattern for nice big tablerunner that was quick & easy enough to make before all the holiday parties.

I decided to use mine in a different way.

I have a very useful but UGLY glass display cabinet.

Isn't it prettier now?

I used velcro on the top edge of each side of drape and along the bottom of the table runner. This way I can swap out the runner with the seasons. Isn't this a much more inviting check out counter?!

Another Block finished!

These blocks finish to 12.5". I bet you are wondering how many are left...you know what...so am I!

Simply cute & fun. What a great gift for this customer's best girl friend! She labored over what sentiment to put on her label. I think she came up with a winner.

Slowly but surely...we will finish this quilt! This one is Missouri Puzzle

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I love snow. Actually, I love snow in the Southeast. Nice & white & fluffy...and then it's gone. Having grown up in "the great white north" US, I remember snow in February as gray, dirty, depressing.

This is so much better! This is a wet snow, so it's sticking very nicely to sides of trees and branches. Makes for pretty pictures!

Brothers Ashton & Ethan will be styling as they go to Grandma's, church or school with Lightning McQueen!

(yes, I took the pics on top of a vintage pinball machine...it was the cleanest surface at the time)

Sister-In-Law Diane has a rugged husband, but holds on to her girly side too in this cammo & polka dot creation. Best of both worlds!

And little Rylee will be the most stylish Princess on the block sporting her goodies in this new diaper bag. (yes, I clipped the loose green thread)
