New Fabrics!

It's been a busy week at Fabrics N Quilts!

We brought in dozens of new fabrics last week and are getting them listed in our online store.

2010 Projects Shuffled Fat Quarters Lap Quilt

This quilt was quick & easy to make.

It is a great beginners project, because there is no matching points.

Just pick your complimentary fabrics, or your contrasting ones. You need 1 FQ for each block of your quilt. So for this quilt, I used 12.

I will work up a tutorial for this project and post it soon. I think you will like to give it a try.

We will be having this class in our brick & mortar store on March 18th if you want to join us!

I quilted the quilt with free motion stippling using a purple 100% cotton varigated thread for the top stitch and a solid

purple thread for the bobbin thread (the back is a deep purple marble).

2010 Projects ~Fig & Plum Rag Purse

I have to say that this fabric collection just soothes me. Pops of color in subdued tones :) Fig Tree & Co designs fabric for Moda. These fabrics are from the Fig & Plum collection This collection also includes fabrics in hues of rose too. Check out my fat quarter bundle on Etsy!

2010 Projects ~ Japanese Insired Full Bed Quilt

This is a great quilt pattern for layer cakes or to frame up your favorite prints.

I was drawn to these Geisha prints and thought the panel would look nice in this pattern.

The smaller blocks have scattered squares of 3 different coordinating prints.

I really like the asymmetrical look of the border and contrasting binding.

Spice up a plain apron

So I have been looking at this blank canvas for at least a year. I thought these aprons would be great for me to wear around the shop, but this Plain Jane was just not doing it for me. So I washed & dryed it & hung it on my peg board....for nearly a year! I would take it down & look at it & think...what can I do?



I knew that my name had to be across the bib, but then what? That's where I was stuck.



With the help of some facebook & quilting friends, I ended up with this:


I have to also give a shout out to Alex Anderson for her EASY to follow prairie point tutorial. I would never have tried them, had they looked harder than this 2 page tutorial. I even did a double layer it was so easy; Thanks!

I know that large patchwork heart pocket will be handy at quilt shows too!

Cool Vintage Thread is now in a shadow box display

I scored this awesome set of thread cards from 1953 in its original packaging from Judy over at Sew Fun Quilts.

The thread is to be cut apart & then the corregated center pierced by your thread holder on the machine. Never seen these before & decided I had to have them for the store!

What a great display this makes in the new quilt shop! I have them on a display shelf above the fabric.
