Time for a quilting day!

well, maybe make that Time for a quilting WEEK.

I have 3 quilt tops now ready for quilting.

One is a small lap quilt made with the Charm Pack Cutie pattern from Boutique Charms.

The second uses the remaining charms from the Summer in the City Tin pack.  This tin made both this 16” wall hanging

and with the remaining print charms, this new lap quilt (I added the brown & the light border (which is this Chloe print).  This lap quilt is around 50x60”, so it will be a great size for the sofa!

Now my last quilt is a queen size strip quilt.  The only “new”, off the bolt, fabric is about 3.5 yards for the black sashing & binding.  The rest came from my ever overflowing scrap basketS.  This one may be a keeper, since DH really likes it and my points are not all 100% perfect.  The squares are 6” unfinished and there are 195 of them.   The pic is about 1/4 of the quilt.

Boutique Rag Quilted Market Tote

DSCN3285

Pairing bright red with the Boutique Charm packs is the most awesome way to make this collection really jump up & grab you!

This market tote is the perfect way to shop in style.  I added some pockets inside so that if my customer wanted to only carry her phone, keys & checkbook into the store, she has a pocket for each inside.

Since my rag quilted totes are made with heavy use & many washings in mind, I bet this tote will go just about everywhere she goes!

www.fabricsnquilts.com is now LIVE!

After a year of (kinda, not really) patient waiting, we have finally obtained our .com from an (evil) eBay affiliate company and are so stoked to announce that

is up & running

and the bigger news,

the storefront is also being stocked.

So come see us! We are stocking all our fabrics, notions, patterns, books, kits, and all our little bits of goodness. You will be seeing all kinds of new things from us...things we have never listed online before! So be sure to come over to http://www.fabricsnquilts.com/ today & see our progress & sprinkle a little magic dust around while you are there!
We want to be your quilt shop, and can do it here in our store, or bring the store to you (with a little help from the mailman).

The first of the new signs

This sandwich board sign (hinged at the top so it stands like a tee-pee) will be placed at the roadside, when it stops raining. I am so happy with it, that I just had to show pics now, so excuse the flash/glare.

The quilt pattern is called Tennessee Puzzle & was brought to me on Friday, just as I was designing the sign, by one of my customers. Of course, she was bringing me the pattern to make a quilt, but I found an immediate alternative. (Thanks Ann!)

Testing a new way to post

Just found a new widget on my computer that allows me, I think, to post to my blog in an easier way.

So here is my test :)

banner

so let’s see if this edit works too…

The widget is Windows Live Writer, something that came preloaded on my computer.  Much easier to add pics here & it doesn’t reformat your whole post (big yay).

Now it's easier than ever to CHERISH NATURE

Thanks to Deb Strain & Moda, that is!

What's on my wall

My yo-yo coverlet is coming along. It may not look like much yet, but these are just under 2" round, so this will be a long-tem project for sure. The Clover makers are awesome, I have to say. I can make about 30 a night while listening/watching tv. I can actually make them faster than I can attach them, which was unexpected. I am stoked that I am using up all these scraps of fabric to make something really cool.

Just 6 string blocks to finish & I will have a nice big queen size quilt top!

Of course, I still have to add the sashing & put it all together before we can really call it a "top". I am going to sash it with a tone on tone black (pinned here to the top bottom of one block, but the sashing will surround each block. The sashing will be narrow, finishing to 1.25". This quilt is definitely one that will have to find a home in a wild environment (maybe mine).

Whew! what a couple of weeks!

Hello, neglected bloggers!

I have been awash in lingering to do lists this week, and am chaining myself to my desk today to get the last big thing off my list (collective sigh), bookwork.

But, alas, there is a silver lining! Many things to show & share from the past couple weeks!

Last weekend, I had the honor of vending at the inaugural Walking Quilt Tour in Cannon County, TN. Of course, we had temps about 20 degrees below normal, so it was a little to brisk to walk the tour, but cars still worked just fine! With 120 quilts, including some phenomenal antiques, in 6 locations, the show was really great. Of course, yes, I forgot my camera...both days! I was able to meet one of the judges of the show that is also studying to be an appraiser. What a great discussion we had. It was pretty cool to examine the antique quilts with such an expert as well as get her insight on why the Best in Show WAS the Best. I already look forward to 2011 to visit that show again!

This week was spent working on finishing up a UFO flannel crib blanket that I embellished with Texture Magic trapunto. I really love the look & feel of this quilt, but then, I am a sucker for anything flannel.

Check out the Texture Magic YouTube Videos here! And pick up your Texture Magic in our store! I will be adding our flannel prints online this week too, so check here for the new arrivals!

I also have been working on a custom order for matching Mommy & Me aprons for one of my customers & her 3 year old son. Though I figured that there were times that Mom may want to go without Nemo, so I made hers reversible with this cute Chloe fabric. We still have a great selection from the Chloe line available! Click here! I will get Nemo listed this week too!

Another order for this cute Rag Purse was also wrapped up. I need to finish the final touches on the wallet, but just had to show you the purse. I love these dots from David Textiles, but they have unfortunately sold out. I will be researching this week if I can restock!
So, I hope to be back to see you very soon here in blogland. Don't forget that you can also keep up with me on facebook, twitter or by signing up for our newsletter!
I should have a more productive week this week too; we "spring forward" the clocks next Sunday morning, so I try to warm into it by getting up an extra hour early all week this week. ~no promises that I don't go to bed earlier though ;-)~
