Easy Pet Pillow

Judy over at Sew Fun Quilts put a bug in my ear a few months ago about how she creates pillows for her kitties using her would-have-been-garbage scraps. 

I decided this was a perfect idea to make Maggie a bed for the shop.

Using this cute Moda fabric from Pampered Pooch, I used a 1/2 yard cut & stitched up an envelope

I turned the raw open edge with a simple hem & started tossing in scraps.  unprinted selvage edges, trims to square up pieces, bits of batting & the like.

Once full, I just stitched it shut & applied a pooch

Fleece Liquidation Sale

It’s cold!  Stay warm with a quick tied fleece blanket!

We are liquidating our fleece for just $4.50 a yard (60” wide) while supplies last.  We would rather see this soft & warm fabric find a home than languish around here.

A new space just for our needlework gals

A few boards, a little paint & we have all our needlework supplies all together in one bright corner.

On one wall, our DMC floss is all protected from dust & light in the gray drawers that line this wall.  I added this little piece of pegboard so that needles, paint & cross stitch supplies are close at hand.  Also this is where our crochet hooks will rest…

because to the left you will find all of our iron on & prestamped embroidery patterns, crochet thread, flour sack towels, and cross stitch patterns!

Getting all those needlework goodies together gave me some extra room on this shelf to spruce up.

The DM approves, but the head tilt may signify it is time to get to work, and quit showing off pictures.

Another way to use your Block of the Month

Our 2010 Block of the Month program consisted of 12 beautiful blocks in 30’s reproductions.  We did 3 blocks in each of 4 colorways to allow our BOM’ers to opt for table runners.

Here’s a table runner I made using the yellow colorway blocks.

I sashed, backed, and bound the runner with brown moda crackle.

Entry for the State Fair Competition

The Fentress County Fair Association is about to head to Nashville to compete against the other county fair assn’s and will be taking along this quilt for competition at the convention.

Our Tennessee Puzzle

This quilt is completely hand crafted. 

It was hand pieced by Debbie Hart, Eileen Powell, Shannon Ownby, and Pamela Kissel.

The English paper pieced flowers were crafted by JoAnn Knapp.

The hand applique was completed by Shannon Ownby and Patsy Littrell

The hand quilting and binding was completed by Shannon Ownby and Margaret Lester.

The label was hand embroidered by Charlotte Tompkins.

The quilt is 56” square.

It was a joy to coordinate this community project with these very talented ladies.  I look forward to planning the next one!

My first finish of the new year

I will be happy to see this one quilted, as I am excited to see the 3d effect of the folded flying geese in the finished quilt.



This would have made a great quilt as you go project, but I decided my time was better spent on other things right now, so off to Helen Marie it goes!

More Scrappy Ideas

This is my plan for my scrap quilt….today

The interior blocks are those I showed yesterday that finish to 3”.  I will probably change the size of this to be NOT square, but this is what I came up with for my layout.

Getting Scrappy!

I have made a promise to work on a *me* project for at least an hour every day.  So, I have been working my scrappy piecing in with my class & custom order piecing this week.

It’s amazing how quickly the pile grows when you just add in a few pieces here & there!

These will finish to 3”.  Now to figure out how I am going to use them in my quilt.  I have too many ideas rolling around in my mind, so I think it’s time to EQ7!
