Trash to Treasure-I love spray paint

Every now & again, I get lucky & find just the right display to meet my needs.

This week a friend & I ventured over the border (of KY) for a nice day out.  We stopped at the guild shop in Monticello where I picked up an awesome thread cabinet.  I am in the process of moving threads over, so this display looks weak in the pic.  (forgive me?)

The reason I haven’t done much with the above is because I have been working on the below.  There are 2 of these racks and they were in pretty rough shape  The plastic on the sides were broken, they were beyond dirty & LOTS of rust.  Luckily, I am a big fan of Rustoleum and have a nice stockpile. 

(view from above, before.  Terrible pictures, but at least I was finally able to figure out how to get pics off my phone.  I somehow deleted my better shot, oopsie)

 

I used the Krylon spray paint for plastics to paint the front piece (red at very bottom in pic above).  Using the old broken sides for templates, I cut out the new sides from pegboard I had on hand (power tools-be afraid).

So, not bad for 1/2 tank of gas, $10 plus about another $10 in supplies, huh? (remember there are 2 book racks plus the thread rack). 

Not to mention a day out after a hectic show weekend {priceless}.

So, can I get a Whoop Whoop for some manual labor trash to treasure fixture refurbs?

Mountain Memories Quilt Show-eye candy!

What an awesome weekend!  The hospitality of the Cumberland County Piecemakers never ceases to amaze me, and the same goes for their quilting!

Here are just a few pics I had to share.  I have more on my phone & hopefully I can figure out how to get them out & share them too!

Yo-Yo Butterfly Quilted Wall Hanging

Making it my own, I used this free project sheet from the yo-yo genius’ at Clover to make my own wall hanging.

The butterfly yo-yo’s took a little finessing but once I got the first one the rest were a breeze!  Check out all our yo-yo makers here!

(side bar yay…used scraps for the whole thing except binding!)

Recent finishes & Quilt Show info!

I am a little late for the Friday celebration of a week’s worth of quilty finishes…or maybe I can just be really early for this Friday.

*reminder~all my quilts are made with Warm & Natural blended cotton batting and washed so you can see them in their soft, crinkly goodness*

My first is a WIP Buster project. 

I started this Sugar Pop table topper when the layer cake first came in.  That was, what, February!?  Not such a great pic…too much sunlight & my camera battery died, so it is what it is!  This is my take on the pattern we have listed.

I had this 3D Flying Geese quilt quilted by a local long arm quilter, Maggie Porter.  Love her quilting!

Finally, the remake of the classic is complete, well my part anyway.  The little lambs are ready to move out & be hand quilted by a proud soon-to-be-grandma.  (Sorry I cut off the border on the right)

I also managed another doll quilt with my 2” Go! cut squares

Once it was done, I realized it would be a good size for a table runner too.

My last new creation is another treadle base table!

So this will probably be my finishes for this week too, because it’s Quilt Show time!  (woot!)

Quilted Baby Shoes-The cutest thing ever

We are excited to announce that we are carrying all the Curby’s Closet “too cute to kick off” quilted baby shoe patterns!

These little shoes are all adorable & you can whip up a pair in about an hour.  The directions are very clear and easy to follow.

There are 7 different styles.  Each pattern includes templates for both size 1 and size 2. Here are my creations with 5 of the patterns.  I did my embellishing, or lack of it in some instances, different than shown in the pattern pics (not one to miss a yo-yo opportunity, you know)

If I had to pick a favorite, I would have to say it’s the boots, but then, I’m a country kinda girl.

It’s Challenge time again! Summer of the WIP busters!

We all have them…projects never finished.  UFO’s, WIP’s…

Here’s mine…

…beautiful batik blocks that hang on a pants hanger in my studio with the already-cut sashing draped over the hanger’s arm.

These blocks, and a few more not shown, should be on point with a nice big block as the medallion center.  It should be on my bed, or wall or somewhere besides a pants hanger in my studio.  Why?  Well, because I started this quilt in 2009.  It just *should* be done by now.  I made that medallion center once.  It did NOT go well and I just haven’t had the gumption to do it over.

Well all that changes now!

Just like the Scrap Quilt Challenge, I am going to play along & find encouragement from all of you finishing your WIP’s & UFO’s

a must-follow quilty blogger-Confessions of a Fabric Addict

I met Sarah during our fall Scrap Quilt Challenge.  I was and continue to be blown away with her quilting, encouragement to others, enthusiasm, but mostly her charitable heart.

Sarah also has a linky party every Friday.  For some reason, I can never seem to make on Friday to link up, but decided this week to just post late.  The linky party is called, Can I get a Whoop Whoop?  (Is that encouraging enthusiasm or WHAT?)

A week’s worth of Sew & Tell

What a gorgeous, hot & humid week!

Our dolls are inside with the AC, so they will need quilts, right?

I chain stitch crocheted a cute pink calico to make my clothesline.  We used to hang a roll of batting here, but I moved it and the hooks made the clothesline hanging a breeze.  The quilts really break up the blah of the pegboard on the other side of this wall.

This week I also sent my 3D flying geese quilt (click to see) off to the long arm quilter & found enough scraps from the quilt to make this reversible table runner

I also finished 90% of the quilt top for my customer.  Hand embroidery is about all that’s left (I didn’t smooth out the top very well, now did I )

My crocheted rag rug is also almost complete, but I will wait until next week to get pics of that one.
