Tennessee Row by Row Experience shop hop kicks off next Tuesday

We are just a little too excited to see next Tuesday roll around!

TN row by row banner

28 shops across Tennessee are hosting a summer-long shop hop and we are proud to be part of this great event.

To make your hopping easier we created an easy-to-print brochure for you AND a Google Map to help you plan your excursions!

We are also hosting a big Kickoff Party in the shop, all day, July 1st.

Plan on making us your first stop for demos, freebies, giveaways and special sales.  and food.  definitely food.

Don’t forget to pick up your Vanity Plate while you are here too!

Oh yeah, we know how to party, quilting style.  But no, we don’t have a quirky dance (ala gangnam style).

Scrap Quilt Challenge is less than two weeks away

It’s almost that time of year again!

scrap challenge.bmp

Time to dig in those scrap bins and create a new masterpiece from what you have!

We are excited to announce big (make that BIG) new things with this year’s challenge.

All the challenge details will be announced the first week of July.  You will be happy.  You will be very happy!  (but you have to wait…)

In the meantime,  grab your favorite scrappy books, magazines and patterns, then start planning your quilt.

Is your sewing space a mess?  Now’s a good time to get in there & make some piles.  Make your scrap quilt from the biggest pile!

When my bin starts to look like Medusa,

I tame those scraps by cutting them all into one size.  2.5” strips & squares are my favorites.

Check out the creations from past challenges in our flickr groups:

What’s the challenge all about?  Check out last year’s info…but remember that this year will be new & exciting!

#SummerScrapBlock–Quilting from what you have

This week I was testing a block for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks’ next edition and the block made 3x6” Flying Geese units with the cutaway corners (tute here), leaving me nice big scraps of triangles.  I immediately ran those back through to make half square triangle units.  I knew they would square up to 2.5”, and the did!

I decided to make up a block right then instead of toss them in the scrap bin.

QM Scrap Block

I only had to make 4 additional half square units and cut the border strips.  Wa-lah, a 12” block!

Our Facebook Scrap Quilt Challenge group is doing a #summerscrapblock share-a-thon.  Pop over & share your fave free scrap block pattern link & your sample block.

Blocks for fun

A small group of online buds are doing a Quilt A Long.  We each have a month we will pick a free block from QuiltersCasche & then we each make one in our own fabrics.  We aren’t swapping, just making a fun quilt to keep.

I got a little behind.  well, a lot behind.

Here are April, May & June blocks.

Hayes Corner , though I modified it just a little, adding another color to the center.
